53IB Conducts Sustainable Development Intervention Program in Barangay Noburan, Labangan, ZDS

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) conducted a Sustainable Development Intervention Program in Barangay Noburan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur on May 19-20, 2021.

The activity, attended by 120 participants from Barangays Cogonan and Noburan, was a two-day follow-up program intended to the barangays previously assessed by the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA) ZDS Provincial Office.

The program tackled the Cooperative Development and Employment, Product Identification and Packaging, Financial Literacy and Institutional DevelopmentThe 53IB discussed peace and security initiatives updates.

“The 53IB shall continue in its effort to sustain the peace and security in the community in coordination with PNPs and other government agencies,” 53IB Alpha Company Commander 1Lt. Janryl Gumalad said.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) discussed Anti-Drug Abuse efforts, RA 7262, and RA 7610 updates.The event was attended by TESDA IX Regional Director Dan Navarro, TESDA ZDS Provincial Director Alan Bacatan, Labangan Police Cheif P/Maj Jerome Pamalaran,, Noburan Barangay Chairman Bonifacio Dag-uman, Cogona Barangay Chairman Cermin Becajas, and representatives from DTI, BFAR, DA, CDA, PCA, DTI, DSWD, DOST, LBP, DBP and DOLE.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
