BETTER LIFE: ADOPT A CAFGU PROJECT | 53IB Conducts Medical Mission in Siayan, ZDN

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) conducted Medical Mission activities for CAFGUs and their dependents as part of Better Life: Adopt-a-CAFGU Project Serbisyo Cravan at Baking Patrol Base, Barangay Mangilay, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte on May 19, 2021.

“The ‘Better Life: Adopt a CAFGU Project’ is a comprehensive program of providing the necessary assistance, knowledge, and structural pathway for our Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary personnel for them to achieve personal and professional growth,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.

“Serbisyo Caravan aims to bring government services closer to the people by delivering basic services to the far-flung barangays. It is also our way of expressing our gratitude and recognizing our CAFGU personnel in their dedication to service for helping our Matapat Troopers in maintaining peace and security in the area,” Lt. Col. Herrera said.

The Matapat Troopers delivered food packs, conducted free medical check-ups, blood typing, distribution of medicines, and free haircut to CAAs and their dependents.

The activities were spearheaded by Siayan Mayor Hon. Josecor Gepolangca with Regional Health Unit headed by Victorino Labastida, and Barangay Officials headed by Mangilay Barangay Chairman Herry Cabanilla.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
