AID TO VICTIM CAUGHT IN FIREFIGHT: 53IB Gives Financial Assistance to Wounded Civilian in NPA Encounter in Guipos, ZDS

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) provided financial assistance to the civilian who was wounded during the recent armed encounter with communist New People’s Army terrorists (CNTs) in Barangay Guinlin, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

The 53IB handed Php 10,000 to the family of the victim on May 17, 2021 after the mother of the victim, Magdalina Tompong asked for financial assistance for hospitalization expenses.

The victim’s daughter, Pastora Jocelyn Panuebo said they need the financial support because they only have a limited source of living.“The financial assistance expresses the Army’s compassion to provide help to the victim of CNTs’ aggressions and violence in the community,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
