CONVERGENCE, COLLABORATIONS: BJMP Region IX Supports 53IB’s Project Good Life for FRs (Friends Rescued)
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office IX expressed message of support to the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) Project Good Life for FRs (Friends Rescued) during the latter’s visit to the 53IB Headquarters, Camp Maj. David Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on May 14, 2021.
BJMP IX Regional Director J/SSupt. Baby Noel Montalvo and his staff were received by 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera and Good Life Academy President Dr. Moibe Olitres. A short program was conducted to provide an overview of the concept of Project Good Life.
With the theme: Threading the Path to Fulfillment and Authentic Happiness with FRs (Friends Rescued), Project Good Life for FRs is a Holistic Wellbeing and Mental Health Psychoeducation Program for FRs who surrendered to the 53IB, in accordance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s Executive Order No. 70 Whole-of-Nation Approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict,Spearheaded by Registered Guidance Counselor Dr. Moibe Olitres, the project highlights “Good Life Academy”, an experiential learning system designed to provide a school-like environment for FRs.
The Academy offers a Certificate in Good Life with a comprehensive curriculum intended for a sustainable series of training, seminars, and well-being assessments aimed at equipping the students’ knowledge and skills to empower them to become transformed and thriving citizens toward better communities.
“The program also focuses on developing a higher level of emotional and spiritual intelligence among the participants as a precursor to authentic happiness or physical and mental wellbeing,” Dr. Olitres said.“We are so happy for the BJMP’s support to our programs for the welfare of FRs. “Project Good Life is an intervention program that addresses the rehabilitation needs of our Friends Rescued in Zamboanga Del Sur in terms of improvement of the quality of their life, well-being, and mental health,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.
“We are honored to be part of this project and we will give our one hundred percent support to this. I’m looking forward to strengthening our partnership with the 53IB and expanding the program to FRs who are in the custody of BJMP,” J/SSupt. Montalvo said.
The BJMP IX staff also facilitated Goodlife 113: Legal Education and Assistance class sessions during the visit with BJMP IX Program and Development Chief J/SInsp. Zarynha Gay Singson, Operations Division Chief J/Insp. Adrian Marantan, Community Relation Services Chief J/Insp. Brenille Carin. BJMP IX staff who joined the activities included SJO3 Evelyn Salinding, JO3 Rey Edio VI, JO2 Marson Aballe, JO1 Kristler Lodovice, JO1 Angelo Tulbanos, JO1 Federico Biolanggo, JO1 Ryan Makiputin, JO1 Kirby Kay Cañete, and JO1/T Niel Balladares.
These activities are parts of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
