BRIGADE COMMANDERS’ APPRECIATION: 102Bde Acknowledges 53IB’s Achievements

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) was acknowledged for its operational achievements during the visit of 102nd Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas to 53IB Headquarters at Camp Maj. David Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on May 14, 2021.

Bgen. Nicolas expressed appreciation for the efforts done by the 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera while leading the Matapat Troopers. BGen. Nicolas reminded the Matapat Troopers to continue in sincerely fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.

“I am grateful for having such a great, competitive, and hard-working battalion under of my Command,” BGen. Nicolas said. 

“We are also very thankful for the inspiration that our Brigade Commander has been providing for our Matapat Troopers. This motivates us to achieve more in serving the communities and securing our Area of Responsibility,”  Lt. Col. Herrera said.

The 53IB also presented the newly surrendered NPA members including the recovered firearms and other seized paraphernalia used by the communst terrorist group. 

A meeting was also conducted to discuss current issues, concerns, and security updates of the 53IB.

These activities are parts of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Road Map (ATR).
