HAND IN HAND WITH MUSLIM COMMUNITIES: 53IB Celebrates Iftar Offering in Lapuyan, ZDS
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion served the Muslim community at Purok Kalimudan, Barangay Poblacion, Lapuyan on May 7, 2021, with a feeding program in joining the Iftar Offering as part of celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadhan in the province of Zamboanga del Sur.
Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadhan with a community Maghrib evening prayer and meal to break the whole day fasting at sunset. Ramadhan, which started on April 13, is annually observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting prayer, reflection, and service to the community. It commemorates the first spiritual revelation of Prophet Muhammad, one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
