The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion held a feeding program in joining the Iftar Offering in Barangay Waling-waling, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur on May 2, 2021, as part of celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadhan in the province.

Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadhan with a community Maghrib evening prayer and meal to break the whole day fasting at sunset. Ramadhan, which started on April 13, is annually observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting prayer, reflection, and service to the community. It commemorates the first spiritual revelation of Prophet Muhammad, one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
