The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB), the Department Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Good Life Psychological Services signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on partnerships and collaborations for 53IB’s Project Good Life for Friends Rescued (FRs) in a simple program held in Hotel Guillermo. Pagadian City on April 29, 2021.
“The MOA marks the start of our partnership to produce empowered graduates who are physically and mentally adept to start a new life and live peacefully in our communities,” DILG IX Regional Director Paisal Abutazil said.
DILG has been an advocate of these programs under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program that encourages former rebels to return to the fold of the law and live a normal and happy life.
“The end goal of the integration program that is to provide a secure, productive, and happy life to our rebel returnees would not be realized unless an effective, comprehensive, and integrated program that addresses the status an security if the rebel returnees as well as their economic, social and psychological rehabilitation needs are provided for them,” Dir. Abutazil said.
“Project Good Life for Friends Rescued focuses on developing a higher level of emotional, cognitive and spiritual intelligences amount the participants as a precursor to authentic happiness and well-being,” Good Life Psychological Services President Dr. Moibe Olitres said.
“Project Good Life is an intervention program that addresses the rehabilitation needs of our Friends Rescued in Zamboanga Del Sur in terms of improvement of the quality of their life, well-being, and mental health,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.
