ENHANCING YOUTH SITUATIONAL AWARENESS: 53IB, LGU, NGO Conduct Info-Drive for Youth in San Miguel, ZDS

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, and Non- Government Organizations (NGOs) conducted an information drive program to enhance the youth’s situational awareness on April 24, 2021 in Talisay Beach, Tabina town.

The said information drive program aims to enhance youth awareness regarding COVID-19 vaccination, teenage pregnancy, illegal drugs, insurgency, and the current peace and order updates in the province.“The topics that were discussed are very timely matters. In fact, these are growing concerns that need to be addressed among the youth today.

This initiative of the Municipality of San Miguel would equip the youth with proper knowledge to shield them from falsehood and misleading,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.

The activities were spearheaded by Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed-Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) Chairperson and San Miguel Mayor Angelito Martinez II, ZDS 2nd District Representative Congressman Jun Babasa, Provincial Department of Health Officer Mary Jane Mohammad Sali, San Miguel Municipal Police Station Officer P/Cpt. Nursaibar Mahadi, and 53IB Bravo Company Executive Officer 2Lt. Kim Kenneth Beloro.
