COMMUNITY SERVICE: 53IB’s ‘Better Life: Adopt-a-CAFGU Project’, 547EBn, LGU, NGO Hold Serbisyo Caravan Medical Mission in Lakewood, ZDS
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) held Medical and Dental Mission Serbisyo Caravan as part of the unit’s “Better Life: Adopt a CAFGU Project” in partnership with 547th Engineering Battalion, Local Government Unit of Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur, and Inner Wheels’ Club at Barangay Biswangan on April 24, 2021.“The ‘Better Life: Adopt a CAFGU Project’ is a comprehensive program of providing the necessary assistance, knowledge, and structural pathway for our Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary personnel for them to achieve personal and professional growth,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.“Serbisyo Caravan aims to bring government services closer to the people by delivering basic services to the far-flung barangays. It is also our way of expressing our gratitude and recognizing our CAFGU personnel in their dedication to service for helping our Matapat Troopers in maintaining peace and security in the area,” Lt. Col. Herrera said.The activities were spearheaded by Lakewood Municipal Mayor Domingo Mirrar, Rural Health Unit of Lakewood headed by Dr. Doreen Bosling, Inner Wheels’ Club headed by Dr. Ray Ortiz, and 53IB Charlie Company Commander 1Lt. Jonathan Cernitchez.Said team delivered free medical and dental check up to 211 residents of Barangay Biswangan including the CAFGU dependents and at least 65 benefited from the free haircut activities..
