VALUING TRADITION OF CHARITY: 53IB Joins Iftar Offering in Dinas, ZDS
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion joined the Iftar Offering in Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur on April 24, 2021, as part of celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadhan in the province.
The 53IB Matapat Troopers held a feeding program in the said Iftar offering activity at Barangay Locuban, Dinas town, in accordance with the Muslim tradition of charity as practiced by the Prophet Muhammad.Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadhan with a community Maghrib evening prayer and meal to break the whole day fasting at sunset.
Ramadhan, which started on April 13, is annually observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting prayer, reflection, and service to the community. It commemorates the first spiritual revelation of Prophet Muhammad, one of the Five Pillars of Islam that is observed from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.
“This April, we join with our Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance of the Holy Month of Ramadhan Al-Mubarak with Ifat offerings in the different municipalities of Zamboanga del Sur this April. May peace be always in our hearts,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.
