CELEBRATING MONTH OF RAMADHAN: 53IB Joins Iftar Offering in Labangan, ZDS
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion joined the Iftar Offering in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur on April 15, 2021, as part of celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadhan in the province.
The 53IB Matapat Troopers also held a boodle fight and feeding program in the said Iftar offering activity at Barangay Combo in Labangan, in accordance with the Muslim tradition of charity as practiced by the Prophet Muhammad.
Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadhan with a community Maghrib evening prayer and meal breaking the whole day fasting at sunset. Ramadhan, which started on April 13, is annually observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting prayer, reflection, and service to the community. It commemorates the first spiritual revelation of Prophet Muhammad, one of the Five Pillars of Islam that is observed from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.
The said Iftar activity was funded by the Municipality of Labangan, participated by Barangay Combo Chairman Jason Badrodin, Barangay Councilors Basser Sinumangi and Nasser Pabuan, Imam Uztadz Dyson Mamentong, and 53IB Executive Officer Cpt. Bahnarin Camsa.
“This April, we join with our Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance of the Holy Month of Ramadhan Al-Mubarak with Ifat offerings in the different municipalities of Zamboanga del Sur this April. May peace be always in our hearts,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.
