The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) in partnership with Pagadian City Councilor Sam Tyra Co conducted Gift-Giving activities for Children and CAFGUs in remote Barangays of Lisson Valley and Lourdes on April 10, 2021.

The activities, coordination with Lisson Valley Barangay Captain Joel Babayson, included feeding programs and distribution of coloring materials to 100 children. Grocery packs were also distributed to CAFGU personnel. Councilor Co is the daughter of current Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co. Co’s mother, Priscilla Ann Co also assisted in the activities.

Councilor Co said she initiated these activities as part of her birthday celebration this month. “I am doing this to give back to the community with the love and support that they have given to me and to my family. I am also thankful to the CAFGUs for their efforts in maintaining peace and security in our patrol bases. The City Government is always open to provide assistance for them,” Council Co said.

“We recognize the dedication of our CAFGUs in Barangay Lisson Valley and Lourdes on fulfilling their duties in securing the far-flung areas,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar  Herrera.
