HONORING THE FALLEN: Army, LGU Commemorate ‘Araw ng Kagitingan’ in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) participated in the commemoration programs for 79th Valor Day (Araw ng Kagitingan) spearheaded by the Municipality of Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur with the theme “Kagitingan ay Gawing Gabay Pandemya ay Mapagtagumpayan” at the Plaza Municipal Hal on April 9, 2021.
“We don’t need to die to become heroes. We just need to do our best and become heroic by extending help to those who are in need,” Dumalinao Municipal Mayor Junaflor Cerilles said.
The heroism and sacrifices of our troops are honored nationwide during the “Day of Valor,” a national observance in the Philippines on April 9 to commemorate the fall of Bataan during World War II.
The program was attended by 53IB Executive Officer Cpt Bahnarin Camsa, 547EBn Executive Officer Cpt. Mark Anthony Aclo, Dumalinao Chief o Police PMaj. Joel Galeriana, MDRRMO Officer Joemar Suganob, and Dumalinao RHU Officer Dr. Patrick Kean Toledo.
