SPENDING HOLY WEEK WITH COMMUNITIES IN REMOTE AREAS: 53IB Joins Community in Barangay Sunop, Dumingag ZDS for Holy Week Observance

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) observed the Holy Week with residents of Barangay Sunop, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur on April 1-5, 2021.

In coordination with Barangay Sunop Captain Sarino Alay and Barangay Secretary Carmelito Ortiz, the 53IB Charlie Company attended Good Friday Mass together with the residents. 

The 53IB also conducted a feeding program for children, barangay assemblies where peace and security updates were discussed, and activities for the youth.

The assemblies were also attended by Barangay Councilor Losvilla Ambani and SK Chairman Alfred Canencia. 

“The activities intended to develop the skills of the youth and strengthen collaboration with the troops for peace and security of Barangay Sunop,” 2Lt. Magno Relado Jr said.
