SERVING IN THE SPIRIT OF HOLY WEEK: 53IB Engages Communities in Barangay Dilud, Dumingag, ZDS

In time for the Holy Week with a message of hope and serving the people, the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) conducted community engagement activities in Barangay Dilud, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur on April 4-5 2021.

The activities initiated by the 53IB and the 1st Civil-Military Operations Battalion (1CMOBn) included the barangay assembly where peace and security initiatives updates were discussed. The negative effects of supporting or joining the CPP-NPA were the highlights of the assemble.

Distribution of transistor radios and leaflets against the NPA loudspeaker operations were also conducted at Purok 1. The Matapat Troopers also introduced to the residents the Radio Program of 53IB, entitled “Ang 53IB Katambayayong sa Katilingban.”

“The activities aimed at winning the hearts and minds of the community to make them realize that supporting the CPP-NPA terrorists is a hindrance to the development of their barangay. We also intend to encourage the residents to support the different government programs,” 53IB’s Sgt Hernando Hoqilla Jr. said.
