WINNING HEARTS AND MINDS: 53IB Conducts Community Engagement in Barangay Dilud, Dumingag, ZDS
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) conducted Community Engagement activities at Barangay Dilud, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur on March 29 – April 2, 2021.
In partnership with Dumingag Vice Mayor Dumingag Mydell Pacalioga, Barangay Dilud Captain Bonifacio Enlab, and Municipal Health Officer Dra. Ju Kanra A Panugao, the 53IB team led by Sgt. Hernando Hoqilla Jr. attended a barangay assembly, conducted house-to-house visitation, clean up drive and loudspeaker operations.
The 53IB team also attended the blessing and turn-over ceremony of an isolation facility in Barangay Dilud. “The purpose of this isolation facility is to clear the high ground area in the barangay to avoid unexpected threats and to make the community comfortable during military operations,” Sgt. Hoqilla said.
“We intend to win the hearts and minds of the residents to make them realize that supporting the CPP-NPA terrorists hinders progress and development of Barangay Dilud,” Sgt. Hoqilla said.
