Army Ready to Extend Help for Residents’ Welfare at Brgy Dapiwak, Dumingag, ZDS
To show that the Philippine Army is always ready to help for the improvement of remote communities, the 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) conducted Community Engagement activities at Barangay Dapiwak, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur on March 24-29, 2021.
The 53IB’s Charlie Company led by 2Lt. Magno Relado, Jr. held a flag-raising ceremony, barangay patrol, face-to-face dialogues, loudspeaker operation, distribution of transistor radios leaflets, and rice to the residents of Barangay Dapiwak.The Barangay Pulong-pulong at Purok 4, attended by at least 264 participants, intended to engage the residents for awareness of the Army’s peace and security initiatives in the area.
Among the topics that were discussed included: Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) programs and E-Clip, Covid-19 updates, and other government projects. Other issues and concerns of the barangay were also discussed including solid waste management, barangay accomplishment planning for 2021, peace and order, barangay health updates, road clearing updates, barangay ordinances.
“The activities aimed to show that the government cares for Barangay Dapiwak. Awareness drive for ending the local communist armed conflict was also done while reminding that everyone can contribute in achieving peaceful communities,” 2Lt. Relado said.
The activities were in coordination with the Barangay Dapiwak Officials including Rene Sumaklao, Jerson Cabahug, and Jorry Maglasang, Purok 4 President Herculano Quimbo, and Barangay Tanod Jose Morales.
