INSURGENCY-FREE PROVINCE: Government Irrigation Programs to Pursue with Ease
The government’s irrigation projects in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur will be implemented with ease after the Provincial Council’s recent declaration that the province is insurgency-free and ready for further development. This was tackled during the National Irrigation Administration Irrigators Association Operation (NIA-IAO) and Maintenance Conference and 1st Quarter Mamidutagui Federation of IAs Meeting at Barangay Timbaboy, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur on March 25, 2021.
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) contingent headed by Alpha Company Commander 1Lt Janryl Gumalad attended the said meeting to provide security updates including the Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) projects, Military Patrol Bases locations, and threat situations in the province.
Also present during the event were Provincial Task Force-ELCAC Chairman and ZDS Governor Victor Yu as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, ZDS Irrigation Management Office OIC Engr. Benedicto Isagani Pulis, NIA9-IDS Head Engr. Ann Maligro, and members of the Zamboanga Del Sur Federations of Irrigators Association.
