Women Empowerment Pushed in San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur

The Municipality of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur celebrated the 2021 National Women’s Month with the participation of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) Held at San Miguel Municipal Gymnasium on March 22, 2021.

Aimed at empowering women, the celebration highlighted various programs involving all barangays in the municipality including food and delicacies, and dance competitions to showcase the skills and capabilities of the women in San Miguel town.

The activities were spearheaded by WEMRIC San Miguel Chairwoman, Ms Vida Belle Althea Martinez, San Miguel Mayor Angelito L. Martinez II and Barangay Captains together with the Municipal Police Office, Department of Education, and the 53IB.“We empower the women in San Miguel by honoring and recognizing their significant roles in creating better communities,” Mayor Martinez said.“

“Empowering women is vital because the women have an important role in the development and progress in our society,” 53IB Commanding Officer Jo-ar Herrera said.
