53IB Bestows Awards to Deserving Matapat Troopers for Dismantling NPA Regional Units

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) bestowed 19 Letters of Commendation to deserving Matapat Troopers for their contributions in dismantling the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) Regional Units in Zamboanga del Sur during the Flag Raising Ceremony on March 8, 2021, at 53IB Headquarters, Camp David Sabido, Guipos town.

53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera acknowledged the meritorious and invaluable service of the awarded Matapat Troopers for their untiring effort and significant contributions for dismantling CPP-NPA’s HQ KALAW, Main Regional GUERILLA Unit (MRGU) and Regional Urban Committee (RUC), Regional Operational Command (ROC) of Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC).

The awardees are the following: TSg Patrick Fernandez, Ssg Jonathan Binosa, Sgt Ronald Dacillo, Sgt Samuel Ramos, Sgt Elias Gomera, Sgt Jeffrey Saldavia, Cpl Jestoni Dingal, Cpl Randy Bugay, Cpl Jovanny Diodor, Cpl Dixie Gabatin, Cpl Wilson W Abara, Pfc Ernie Pinaglao, Pfc Reynan Berdon, Pfc Leandro Labasan Jr., Pvt Joel Palahang, Pvt Gernie Sandil, Pvt Dave Sabado, Pvt Rey Jay Panuncialman, and Pvt Alustriano Ongcol Jr.

“It is with great pleasure and honor that I commend you for your collective efforts and dedication to duty to accomplish your given tasks significantly contributed to the accomplishment of our unit’s mission. Such deeds you have shown are indispensable in maintaining the high standard of excellence of our unit,” Lt. Col. Herrera said.

“We glorify God for all the accomplishments of our unit. Your contributions to our campaign are highly commendable and have further brought pride to our unit. I urge you to continue your good work with zeal and enthusiasm. Congratulations for a job well done and keep up the good work,” Lt. Col. Herrera said.

“I am very happy and thankful that I was given an award in a ceremony for the first time. Not like before where I just received recognition papers,” TSg Patrick Fernandez said.

In the same ceremony, Lt. Col. Herrera also recognized Pfc Mark Dave Abog who is reassigned to 53IB from 64IB.

“I am truly happy of being here at 53IB and rest assured that I will give my 100% support and loyal service to this unit,” Pfc Abog said.
