LGU, 53IB Conduct Retooled Community Support Program in Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur conducted community engagement activities as part of the National Government’s Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) in the Barangay Timolan on February 25-26, 2021, and Barangay Guinlin on February 26-27, 2021.
The RCSP aims to bridge the gap between the government and the barangays that were already cleared with communist terrorist groups (CTG) through President Rodrigo Duterte’s Executive Order Number 70’s whole of nation approach of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
The RCSP activities included the 2-days “UGNAYAN sa BARANGAY” and “SERBISYO CARAVAN” held at Barangays of Timolan and Guinlin in the Municipality of Tigbao, ZDS coordinated with Tigbao Mayor Eleazar Carcalias, 53IB’s Tsg. Ledion Ceniza, 53IB Task Force Covid-19 NCO Ssg, Rudy V Jamon, and Sgt. Noel Namit.
In Barangay Timolan, gift-giving of slippers for the two hundred forty (240) children was conducted. The Department of Health – Tigbao headed by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Danica May Calimot, provided free haircut for (38) males giving of tooth brush and tooth paste for (55) residents of the said area, oral prophylaxis, feeding activity for (60) children and check-up for (30).
In Barangay Guinlin, gift-giving of (165) pairs of slippers for children, mosquito nets for (150) Households, giving of toothpaste and toothbrush to (120) male and (68) females, and organizing haircuts to (58) male children and adults were conducted. The activities also included feeding program, medical consultation, and check-ups for (18) females and (12) males.
The said activities in Barangays Timolan and Guinlin were spearheaded by Cluster Head- District- I ELCAC Focal Person Jose Ruel Trobanos, Tigbao ZDS headed by Municipal Health Officer-DTTB of Tigbao Municipal Health Office Dr. Danica May Calimot, Tigbao DCW I/ PESO Manager Fe Caling, DILG LGOO-II Focal Person Chrisjoe Morales, Tigbao MLGOO Rhea Romanos, Tigbao MPS represented by PNCO Elvie Maglasang, and Guinlin Barangay Chairman Vinsinso Aligarbis, Tigbao MLGOO Chairperson Mayor Eleasar C. Carcallas, and Tigbao MPS represented by PCMS Elvie Lico Maglasang and Finance PNCO.
“The RCSP activities aim to address the issues and concerns of the community and encourage government sectors to conduct interventions that can be offered to them. No matter how big or small we do for the benefit of the communities, what matters most is you servant soldiers do it from the heart” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.
