SUSTAINING PEACE AND ORDER IN THE PROVINCE: 53IB Opens Mass Base Operations Training for Matapat Troopers

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) opened Mass Base Operations (MBO) Training Class 01 – 2021 at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Major Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on February 10, 2021.

“The 53IB maintains community engagement to prevent the recovery of mass base support of the CPP-NPA-NDF in the province and to constantly engage the vulnerable sectors in our society,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Herrera said.

The Battalion initiated a refresher training that aims to develop the Matapat Troopers’ capacity to properly conduct an MBO that will educate the local populace about Communist NPA Terrorists infiltration and deception strategies.

Participants of the said MBO training were Matapat Troopers and Former Rebels in Zamboanga del Sur.
