MATAPAT@36: 102IB Awards Command Plaque to 53IB for Operations Achievements
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) received a Command Plaque from 102nd Infantry “IGSOON” Brigade (102IB) on January 26, 2020, in recognition of the 53IB’s achievements in the conduct of Development Support and Security Operations in its Area of Operation.



The Command Plaque, signed by 102IB Commander Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas, indicates mission accomplishments of 102IB from August 16, 2019 to January 25, 2021.
1st Infantry “TABAK” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Gene Ponio was present during the program.
“This Command Plaque recognizes 53IB’s invaluable contribution that greatly contributed to 102IB’s mission accomplishments,” Brig. Gen. Nicolas said.
“We appreciate this recognition from 102IB. We also acknowledge the efficient leadership of our former 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Marlowe Patria, who provided direction in the pursuit of peace in our Area of Operation,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.
“The men and women of the 53IB shall continue with our passion to serve the people and secure the Province of Zamboanga del Sur,” Lt. Col. Herrera said.
