MATAPAT@36: 53IB Holds Gratitude Night to Recognize Stakeholders

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) held a Gratitude Night to acknowledge the different stakeholders in recognition for their valuable contributions, which greatly contributed to the accomplishment of 53IB’s mission in serving the people and securing the province of Zamboanga del Sur.

Aimed at strengthening friendship and camaraderie among stakeholders toward peace and development in Zamboanga del Sur, the Gratitude Night event, held on January 22, 2021 at 53Ib Headquarters at Camp Maj. David Sabido in Guipos town, Zamboanga del Sur, was part of the unit’s 36th Founding Anniversary Celebration with the theme: “MATAPAT@36: Remember with Gratitude. Renew with Passion.”

With strict adherence and implementation of health guidelines and protocols against the Coronavirus disease-2019 (Covid-19), the guests were assigned specific seats for the event.

“The essence of having this Gratitude Night for stakeholders is to recognize the working team behind the achievements and gains towards peace and development in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.

“This acknowledgement of stakeholders’ contributions is a combination of gratitude and passion. We will continue the passion and the energy to sustain our gains. We would not have accomplished such things without extensive cooperation and strong partnership,” Lt Col. Herrera said.

Zamboanga del Sur 2nd District Representative Leonardo L. Babasa, the event’s Guest of Honor and Speaker, said: “Congratulations to the 53IB, we are grateful that we are here to celebrate with you on your 36th Founding Anniversary.

“We appreciate your effort in recognizing every stakeholder in this Province. We also pray for your safety and may God continue to bless you in every movement,” Rep. Babasa said.

The stakeholders who attended the said event received plaques of appreciation as remembrance and symbol that the 53IB’s gratefulness for their unwavering support.

During the event, the Matapat singers performed the first ever 53IB Matapat Theme song entitled “Matapat sa Paglingkod” while the music video played on the background LED screen.

Representatives from Charlie Company and from the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) Alumni also showcased their talent in dancing.

The 44th Infantry “Agile N’ Stable” Battalion Band performed on the said event.
