BRIGHT CHRISTMAS SPIRIT AT THE CAMP: Winners of 53IB Christmas Lighting Decorations Competition Announced
To create a brighter Christmas atmosphere inside the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) Headquarters, the Matapat Troopers initiated the 53IB Christmas Lighting Competition during the holiday season.
53IB Lt. Col. Jo-ar A. Herrera said the contest also aimed to “cultivate competitiveness and camaraderie among the Matapat Troopers while boosting their morale in the spirit of Christmas. We wanted to feel the spirit of the holiday season in the home of every Matapat Troopers.”









The contest included all seven (7) areas in the camp: Alpha Company; Bravo Company; Charlie Company; Delta Company; Headquarters Company; Female Barracks; and the Jaguar.
A simple program for the announcement of winners and awarding of prizes was held on December 31, 2020.
The Alpha Company bagged first place with P10,000 cash prize. The Headquarters Company was second place with P5,000 cash prize. The Female Barracks was third place with P3,000 cash prize. All the other participating areas also received consolation prizes.
The criteria for judging were: 10% for Theme, Story, Light Synchronization, Concept, and 20% for Eco-friendly, Brightness, and Uniqueness for a total of 100%.
