Zamboanga del Sur LGUs Provide Livelihood Cash Assistance to Former Rebels

Four former NPA rebels who recently surrendered to the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) received livelihood cash assistance from the provincial government of Zamboanga del Sur in a simple turn over ceremony on December 29, 2020, at the Executive Function Hall, Provincial Capitol Complex, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

The Local Government Units of Zamboanga del Sur has released a total amount of Php80,000.00, Php20,000.00 livelihood cash assistance to each former rebel beneficiary.

The said cash assistance was made possible through the initiative of Zamboanga del Sur Governor Victor J. Yu and was facilitated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

The cash assistance aims to aid the former rebels in their transition back to mainstream society.

In his message during the ceremony, Gov. Yu encouraged NPA members who are still in the hinterlands to surrender and avail themselves of the same benefits and other government programs and services for former rebels.
