Maximization, Optimization of Kings of Battles in Winning, Sustaining Peace

Playing a vital role in the conduct of Army Operations and to better enhance collaboration efforts, the 1st Field Artillery “Beat ‘Em” Battalion, AAR, PA (1FAB) visited 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) on November 24, 2020 at 53rd IB Headqarters, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

1FAB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Archie Ares was apprised by 53rd IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera of the unit’s thrusts in its pursuit and sustainment operations to win peace in Zamboanga del Sur and its area of operations (AO).

During military operations, the role of field artillery is to provide support to other arms in combat particularly the troops on the ground or to attack targets, particularly in-depth.

Their weapons, such as the 105mm M101A1 Howitzer, are specialized for mobility, tactical proficiency, short range, long range, and extremely long range target engagement.

Personnel and equipment of 1st FAB were also placed OPCON (operational control) to 53rd IB before as operations against Communist-Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in the unit’s AO become progressive.

The game-changing contributions of 1st FAB also contribute to the weakening and destruction of the enemy’s spirit and will to fight, as the artillery provide indirect fire to enemy positions during Army Operations.

The 1st FAB Commander also planted his own tree at the Matapat Firing Range as part of the unit’s Green Camp Program.
