The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) initiated the conduct of a 2-day Community Consultation and Problem Solving Sessions in two (2) ELCAC barangays in 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) area of operations on November 18-19, 2020.
Peace sustainment efforts are necessary in Barangays Ocapan in San Miguel and Barangay Gasa, Lakewood, Zamboanga Del Sur after being declared “clear” of Communist-NPA Terrorist (CNT) influence through the conduct of Community Support Program (CSP) in 2018.
The initiative was done in partnership with the Localized Peace Engagement (LPE) Cluster of Region IX Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) which is chaired by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The ‘Ugnayan sa Barangay’ RCSP outputs were presented by the ZamboSur PTF-ELCAC Focal Person Mr. Ruel Trobanos to OPAPP as part of the Community Consultation and Problem Solving Sessions.

According to Lakewood MTF-ELCAC Chairperson and Mayor Hon. Domingo Mirrar, the Municipality of Lakewood and the Task Force ELCAC will be proactive in sustaining the peace efforts in convergence and close coordination with various government agencies.
