NPA-influenced barangays finally declare NPA terrorists persona non grata
Two (2) NPA-influenced barangays in Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte province finally declared Communist-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) ‘persona non grata’ through a Barangay Resolution signed during the conduct of Community Support Program (CSP) which started just August this year.
The persona non grata resolutions were signed by the residents of Barangays Pange and Macasing in Siayan town. They claimed they are already tired of the atrocities committed by NPA terrorists.
These atrocities include food extortion, collection of revolutionary tax or “kontribusyon.”
Barangays Pange and Macasing were long treated by NPA terrorists as their safe havens in Siayan town.
The declaration of persona non grata was facilitated by CSP Teams composed of Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB), 547th Engineer “Agila” Battalion, and personnel from Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office (ZNPPO).
Hon. Fernando Tanyap and Hon. Jhonry Andique, the Barangay Chairmen of barangays Pange and Macasing, respectively, led the signing of the persona non grata declarations. Together with their barangay officials, they commended the efforts of the CSP teams led by 2Lt. Jay Mar Paderes and 1Lt. Alvin Ibarra.
Both Barangay Chairmen acknowledged that the presence of NPA terrorists in their barangays hinder the entry of developmental projects such as farm-to-market roads and access to basic and government services.
Both of them are also optimistic that their barangays will finally be cleared of NPA terrorist influence.
