53rd IB, YLS Alumni conduct feeding program, Brigada Eskwela

A team composed of Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB), Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) Alumni of Zamboanga del Sur, and the faculty of Upper Katipunan Primary School conducted a feeding program for the children studying thereat on November 13, 2020.

The team also distributed slippers for the children and conducted Brigada Eskwela thereafter with this year’s theme: “Pagpapanatili ng Bayanihan Tungo sa Kalidad na Edukasyon para sa Kabataan.”

Brigada Eskwela is the yearly National Maintenance Week initiated by the Department of Education.

In attendance were Ms Marites G Abad, Public School Division Supervisor; Hon Jimmy Lavilla, Brgy Chairman; and Mr Apolinario C Mateo, the Head Teacher of the school.

The said activity aims to bring together all education stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort and resources to prepare public school facilities for the opening of the school year.

With combined efforts in repainting the classrooms and cleaning the school’s surroundings, the team then ensured that the school will be conducive for learning.
