TRAIN TO WIN: 53IB troopers complete SWEEP, supply management training
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) successfully concluded the Platoon Sustained Warfighting Enhancement and Evaluation Program (SWEEP) and Supply Management Training in a simple closing ceremony on November 3, 2020 held at the 53rd IB headquarters in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

Col. Jonathan Obena, 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division Training School commandant was the keynote speaker in the said closing ceremony.
In the SWEEP Training, the 53IB troopers and small-unit leaders were trained to provide effective Command and Control (C2) in accomplishing tough missions. They were also honed to be physically fit and mentally strong to survive in a harsh and unforgiving operational environment.
The Supply Management Training, on the other hand, enhanced the understanding of sustainment operations particularly on the importance of logistics and management of supplies in accomplishing a given mission.
53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera congratulated the troops for completing the said trainings and reiterated that the best weapon against the enemy is a well-trained and well-motivated soldier.
In his message, Col. Obena commended the 53IB for its recent accomplishments and its conduct of relentless trainings in pursuit of excellence.
“We have to undergo various trainings in order to improve our warfighting capacity. Without these trainings, you [the 53IB troopers] cannot be as excellent as you are now,” said Col. Obena.
The 53IB troopers who completed the said trainings will be deployed to apply their recently acquired knowledge from the SWEEP and supply management training training.
