Embracing Matapat Family: 53rd IB welcomes New Privates, dons unit patch

The Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) welcomes 20 newly-deployed Privates in a simple ceremony, in strict observance of COVID-19 protocols, held on October 26, 2020 at 53rd IB Headquarters, Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

The ceremony highlighted the donning of unit patches to the new Privates. The 53rd IB is also their first unit assignment after they graduated from the Infantry Operations Course on October 19, 2020, at the 1st Division Training School, 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division, Philippine Army.

The first unit assignment of soldiers has a great deal of influencing their characters. It also serves as their foundation in the growth and development of their skills.
