Training and Motivation: Equipping Matapat Troopers to be the Best Weapon vs. Enemy

To continue its mandate of protecting the people, the Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) held another Joint Opening Ceremony, in strict compliance with pandemic protocols, of two of its in-house trainings on October 26, 2020, at 53rd IB Headquarters at  Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

The said trainings were the Platoon Sustained Warfighting Enhancement and Evaluation Program (SWEEP) and Supply Management Training.

In SWEEP training, the Matapat Tropers were trained to provide effective Command and Control (C2). They are also trained to be physically fit and mentally tough.

Meanwhile, the Supply Management Training will help the students understand the vital importance of logistics in sustaining the mission.

53rd IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera encouraged the Matapat Troopers to be the best weapon against the enemy by staying well-motivated and well-trained.

Lt. Col. Herrera also cited some fruitful thoughts on the “Secret of the Successful People” in his speech.

“Successful people love their jobs. They have an infectious and positive attitude. They know how to manage their resources even when placed in dangerous environments like military operations, ” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
