Army Recognizes Youth’s Role in Nation-Building
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) recognized the significant role of the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) alumni in nation-building in a ceremony held on October 12, 2020, at 53IB Headquarters in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
“The youth must stay true to their commitment to rekindle in the hearts the spirit of patriotism, nationalism, and volunteerism, as the spirit of YLS is founded on such virtues,” 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said.
During the ceremony, each YLS alumni received a Certificate of Appreciation for their invaluable support to the unit and the Army’s campaign especially in the conduct of Civil-Military Operations activities such as MEDCAPs, Clean-up Drives, Brigada Eskwelas, Feeding Programs, Serbisyo Caravans, and other community engagements.
