Strengthening Resiliency Against the Pandemic: 53rd IB participates in Task Force COVID meeting

To discuss the measures to be undertaken amid COVID-19 pandemic, the Provincial Task Force against COVID-19 held an emergency meeting on October 23, 2020 at Subanen Hall, Provincial Government Center, Pagadian City.

The meeting was presided by Zamboanga del Sur Governor and PTF COVID-19 Chairperson Hon. Victor J. Yu with Department of Health Region 9 Director Dr. Emilia Monicimpo, MD, MPH.

Last October 14, Governor Yu issued Executive Order 2020-35 providing Amended Stringent Measures for Zamboanga del Sur to address the COVID-19 community local transmission within 14 days, which started on October 15 and will end on October 29.

The rising of COVID-related cases in the province is very alarming, as assessed by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

The emergency meeting was participated by the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZSPPO), Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB), and other members of the Provincial Task Force.

The National Task Force against COVID-19 recently added Zamboanga del Sur in its list of COVID19 hotspots.
