Arms Cache: Army Operations retrieve Rocket Propelled Grenade, M14 Rifle
After the revelation of a surrendered Communist-NPA Terrorist (CNT), the Philippine Army was able to retrieve various high-powered firearms in a retrieval operations on October 16, 2020 in Barangay Midatag, Leon B Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte and Barangay Piwan, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.

The Philippine Army —composed of joint elements of Army’s 97th Infantry “Kalasag Lahi” Battalion (97IB) and 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) — was able to recover one (1) rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) with two 2 ammo and one (1) M14 rifle.
The CNT who disclosed the information leading to the successful result of the retrieval operations was from NPA’s crumbling HQ KALAW of Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC), following the rescue of their commander alias PEEWEE by government toops last August 06, 2020.
Army’s 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas said the revelation of FRs contributes greatly to the Army’s campaign against Communist-Terrorist Groups.
“Their contribution is a proof that even their former members want this 5-decade-long insurgency to end,” said Brig. Gen. Nicolas.
The recovered war materiel are now in the custody of the Army for documentation and proper disposition.
