53rd IB Awards Matapat Ladies, Troops for Invaluable Contribution, Exemplary Performance
In grateful recognition and appreciation for their unwavering support and contribution, the 53rd Infantry (MATAPAT) Battalion awarded the Matapat Ladies in a simple ceremony held Monday, October 5, at 53rd IB Headquarters, Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

The Matapat Ladies, composed of the wives of our Matapat Troopers, have contributed immensely to the unit’s mission especially in the conduct of the Former Rebels’ Mass Wedding last September 18 and the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel on September 30 this year.
The 53rd IB also awarded the Physical Proficiency Award to those Matapat Troopers who garnered a score of 90% and more during the conduct of Physical Fitness Test (PFT), also held at the Battalion HQ.
Soldiers, to be able to accomplish their sworn duties to the country and people, must be able to pass the PFT. The Physical Fitness Test is a three-event physical performance test used to assess endurance. It is used to measure physical strengths, abilities, and cardio-respiratory fitness.
