NPA Terrorist Members Arrested in Zamboanga del Sur

Two fleeing Communist-NPA Terrorists were captured after Army’s 53rd IB and Midsalip police conducted blocking and checkpoint operations on the afternoon of September 21 in Barangay Kahayagan, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.

Successfully seized from the two were assorted items including clothes, cellphones, food supplies, and subversive documents.

The two NPA terrorists, identified as Jaymar Balaas Bellano and Gemma Donsalo Ayas, were members of NPA’s Main Regional Guerilla Unit (MRGU), the communist terrorist group (CTG) the 53rd IB encountered same day morning in Dumingag town.

The September 21 armed encounter — which resulted to the death of one NPA terrorist and multiple firearms recovered — eventually resulted to the apprehension of their commander alias JOTHAM in a joint law enforcement support operations by 53rd IB and Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZSPPO) last night September 22.

In his statement, 53rd IB Commanding Officer said the chain of events were not borne out of luck.

“The series of events were a result of careful planning, praying, and execution,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.

“Of course, we pray — we pray that the Lord God protect our troops in carrying out our mandate of pursuing peace. For that, we are forever grateful,” Lt. Col. Herrera added.
