MATAPAT Officer Awarded Best Zambosurian in the Field of Military Service

53rd IB’s Alpha Company Commander was awarded Best Zambosurian in Field of Military Service in a ceremony held during the 68th Anniversary Celebration of the Province of Zamboanga del Sur last September 17, 2020.

1Lt. Maverick Mira is the incumbent Alpha Company Commander of 53rd IB, 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division, PA. Under his able leadership, the Alpha Company, 53rd IB established COVID-19 Quarantine Control Points (QCPs) along critical areas of the 1st Congressional District of the Province to assist the local government units and frontliners.

He also designated teams immersed in Conflict Affected Areas to conduct information drives, distribution of transistor radios and leaflets, community engagements, giving of food packs, and other humanitarian activities in support of the communities affected by the lockdown.

Troops of 1Lt. Mira were also tasked to patrol their areas and prevent criminals and terrorists to exploit the pandemic issues.
