Ending Insurgency

Former Rebels capacitated with skills, enhanced through TESDA training

Four (4) Former Rebels who surrendered to 53rd Infantry (MATAPAT) Battalion graduated from the Community-based training in Photovoltaic Installation in Barangay Dalapan, Guipos, ZDS August 7.

The training was initiated by the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of ELCAC chaired by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

This skills development training intends to capacitate the former rebels and equip them with necessary knowledge and skills to be productive members of the society.

With this training, the trainees were able to install solar-powered street lights going to the adjacent Purok 3 of Barangay Ocapan in San Miguel town and a charging station.

It was also conceived to further sustain the ELCAC gains and ultimately end the insurgency in Barangays Dalapan and Ocapan, two previous conflict affected Barangays in Guipos and San Miguel town, respectively.

Aside from the former rebels, four CAFGU Active Auxiliaries from 53rd IB were also included in the said program.

The solar-powered charging station was brought to Purok 5 of Barangay Ocapan yesterday August 12.
