Empowering Communities in Far-flung areas
The residents of Purok 3, Barangay Ocapan in San Miguel town are set to have a Solar Dryer built in their barangay after the ceremonial ground breaking was held August 7.

The Ceremonial Ground Breaking was headed by TESDA OIC DDG for CLGUs and TESDA-R XI Director Lorenzo Macapili.
The Barangay Solar Dryer was under the ZDS Integrated Community Assistance and Rural Enterprise (iCare), a project of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC) chaired by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Solar dryers are devices that use solar energy to dry substances, especially food.
This will help the residents of Purok 3 in Barangay Ocapan to dry up their harvest in large quantities with less risk of contamination.
In turn, the farmers will be able to market their produce in less time, translating to a higher income compared to one without a solar dryer.
This program of TESDA is aligned with the mandates of Executive Order No. 70 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte which seeks to institutionalize the Whole of Nation approach mandating the creation TF-ELCAC.’
The ceremony was also participated by 53rd IB Commander Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, TESDA R-IX Director Dan Navarro, TESDA ZDS Provincial Director Alan Bacatan, DTI R-IX Director Maridel Dengal, and ZDS Provincial Administrator Mr. Joeffe Suson.
