Five former rebels (FRs) who surrendered to Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion received cash assistance last Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Isaiah Hall, Provincial Capitol, Dipolog City.
The cash assistance, amounting to PhP 20,000 each former rebel, was given during the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) Committee meeting.
Of those 5 FRs who surrendered to 53rd IB, two (2) were from Siayan and three (3) from Leon B Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte province.
In his remarks, Zambo Norte Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) and E-CLIP Committee Chair Governor Roberto Uy said that the provincial government will be active in assisting and supporting the FRs’ reintegration to mainstream society.
Meanwhile, 53rd IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera thanked Gov. Uy for the untiring support and commitment of the Province of Zamboanga del Norte in helping the Former Rebels.
In total, 22 FRs, including those who surrendered to other units under the Army’s 102nd Infantry Brigade, also received the same cash assistance.
The FRs are also set to receive immediate cash assistance and livelihood assistance amounting to a total of PhP 65,000 each FR as part of their benefits under E-CLIP.
