Community in hinterlands receive rice sacks from LGU

The Local Government of Dumingag, ZDS together with troops of 53rd Infantry (MATAPAT) Battalion and 547th Engineer (AGILA) Battalion distributed rice sacks to the residents of Barangay Labangon, a far-flung barangay in the Municipality of Dumingag, this province.

A total of 248 households received sacks of rice weighing 25-kilograms each.

LGU Dumingag said the distributed the sacks of rice to all residents of Brgy Labangon is “regardless of economic status.”

Also part of the distribution of rice sacks was a short program on Advocacy on Dengue and COVID-19 prevention, to include the livelihood and food sustainability campaign under the Genuine People’s Agenda, a program of LGU Dumingag.

From the Army was 1Lt. Oliver Carmen and 1Lt. Marco Abante, the Operations Officers of 53rd IB and 547th Engineer Battalion, respectively.

In his remarks, 1Lt. Carmen reminded the residents of Brgy. Labangon that the Army is always here for them.

“Your 53rd IB and 547th Army Engineers are here for you. Now, with your municipal government and other line agencies through the convergence incorporated in Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC), we will now be able to solve your long-enduring problem — the lack of roads,” said 1Lt. Carmen.

The activity was also part of the surveying done by the Dumingag Municipal Engineer and 547th Army Engineers  of the proposed ELCAC farm-to-market road project in Labangon.

In her remarks, the Dumingag MTF-ELCAC Chairperson Hon. Mayor Joan Abejuela thanked the Army for lending a hand in the said activity.

“I am grateful to the 53rd IB and 547th Army Engineers for lending us a hand, first in the distribution of sacks and second, for facilitating the construction of ELCAC road project here in Labangon,” said Hon. Abejuela.

“Through great collaboration and convergence, we will now finally be able to deliver basic and government services here in Labangon once the ELCAC road project is realized,” Hon. Abejuela added.

The activity was also attended by Dumingag Vice Mayor Mydell Pacalioga and MDRRMO Mr. Cyrill Ojas.
