he Department of Agriculture Region-IX turned over seeds to the Former Rebels who surrendered to 53rd Infantry (MATAPAT) Battalion after conducting a two-day Agriculture Livelihood Training last week, 16-17 June, held at Headquarters, 53rd IB, Camp Sabido, Poblacion, Guipos, this province.
The FRs underwent a series of lectures, including lectures on poultry raising, native goat production, goat raising, vermi-composting production, mushroom production, urban gardening, and corn production.
More than 30 FRs received seeds from Department of Agriculture R-IX. Aside from yielding food for daily consumption, the seeds, when grown, can also be a source of income especially in these trying times.
This initiative will help the FRs in their transition to mainstream society. This will help them provide for themselves and for their families.
The DA is also set to conduct more lectures for the troops of 53rd IB and another batch of FRs.
